St Georges Open Day 3 & 4 Review

The Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier Bowling League had two qualifiers this weekend in the St Georges Open. Tom Palmer of Castlefields got through by beating new Hanwood signing Simon Lane 15, Steve Pratt 15 and Dean Butler. Simon Homer used to play in our league for Hadley USC and Bylet and he defeated Owen Jackson 13 to qualify. Simon’s team mate Jamie Wyer lost out 8 in the qualifier to Gareth Herbert, while Hanwood’s Wayne Phillips lost out to Simon Coupe 13. We had other losers in the qualifiers as Castlefields’ Paul Williams got 10 off Dean Missere, while Wrockwardine Wood’s Mark Clayton lost out 15 to Paul Leah. Paul Dale beat former St Georges, Hadley USC and Newport player Phil Clinton 18 and Gareth Coates got past Paul Stretton 14.

Sunday saw Rob Carter of Hanwood qualify as he got past Danny Sillitoe 19 and former All Enlgand winner Tom Vickers 15. The morning session was dominated by other Midland qualifiers. Ryan Prosser beat Matt Horton 19, Jordie Baddeley defeated Tom Boyd Jnr 9 and Adam Weaver got past Daniel Nixon 20 in the qualifiers. Yorkshire dominated the afternoon as Graeme Wilson beat Darrell Handley 17, James Martin defeated Chris Mordue 15 and Chris’ son Josh got past Carl Armitage 10. Nigel Egan was the other qualifier, beating Gareth Hughes 14.
