Barlows Fire & Security Alan Mayhew Trophy Quarter Final Preview

Holders face another tough test, Wem aim for upset, 5th meets 6th

Castlefields, having seen off the league leaders in the 1st round, now have to take on Newport in the Quarter Finals of the Barlows Fire & Security Alan Mayhew Trophy. Skipper Alan Peach says it is “another difficult game against a top team. We have a few players out due to illness but the players coming in are hungry. We will give it our best shot and see what happens. Castlefields are not playing at their best but hopefully we will discover our consistency.” Newport have been struggling for form themselves lately having gone from the 1st to 3rd, so will be looking for some cup success to get some silverware. St Georges enter the competition and will look to avoid an upset against Wem USC. Wem captain Scott Thomas says “we’re looking forward to tomorrow night’s game. We’ve performed well in cup comps this season so there’s no reason why we wouldn’t go into the game with confidence.”

5th meets 6th as Hanwood play Wrockwardine Wood. Hanwood have won this in 2017 while Wrockwardine have never won this before. Their captain Rob Jones is “looking forward to a tough game tomorrow, two sides matched together that typically score well at home.” Hanmer enter the competition after receiving a walkover in the last round. They play Highley who just got past Burway last round. Captain Dave Ellison says “we welcome Highley and I expect a close encounter against a side who have adapted to the league very well indeed.”

A reminder that dress code does apply.
