BowlsTrader Pool B Final Draw and Preview

There will be a new name on the BowlsTrader Pool B trophy as Chester Road play Highley. Chester Road have won the Pool A and the Alan Mayhew Trophy before, and look to become only the second team to win all three trophies after Newport. Captain Paul Fowles is “looking forward to the game after last week’s win. It is the only cup we have not won in the league so hope to put that right.” This is Highley’s first attempt in the competition, and are attempting to sign off a very successful first season in the league. Joint captain Ben Dixon “for some, well most teams, the season has come to an end, but me and Stu Gittings (the other captain) said at the very start we’re going to respect the league and the competition and give it our all and see what happens at the end of the season. Luckily for us we’re still competing for things, we’ve played a mixed bag of a team but remained solid throughout which for once I have to give credit for to all our squad for their commitment and battling, and quiet simply our success. I know success can be judged in many ways and we as well as others have got our what if’s this season but I’ve always said wherever u finish is exactly what u deserve for the season. But onto Friday night and a little bit of difference to league games as it’s a cup game and we’ve played our fair share of these in Shropshire the last 12 months which as a whole team we’re proud of. We’re up against a Shropshire Premier team of quality in Chester Road who have been there and done it as many know and recently secured Premier League bowls next year. But it’s 8 a side on a Newport green that we won’t be unfazed by so we will be there to compete and hopefully win pool B on our first attempt. All in all it’s been a great season and we will be celebrating and enjoying our evening and presentation whatever happens best of luck to Chester Road and lets have a good, well fought competitive game.”
