BowlsTrader Pool A&B Final Review

Wem USC edged out Newport by 2 to claim their first ever silverware in this league. It was a tight battle throughout, Newport led by one after four games off, Stuart Clee coming back to 16 from 17-5 down over the middle as Newport recovered from a slow start and handicap. Into the back four and captain Scott Thomas led the way with a 21-8 win that helped Wem lead. Paul Reeves then came off winning 11 for Newport to put them just 2 behind. Colin Smith led Dale Rudrum 19-18 for Wem and Connor Whitehall had got back to 17-16 from 17-11 down to put them within touching distance. Once Colin had won 18 though it was all over and Wem had won their first ever trophy in this league.

The Pool B final saw Chester Road lead after four games off with three winners. Mark Holland was the best of them 14, while Ian McDonald had come back from 15-8 down to win 20. However Dave Scriven had his own comeback from 14-8 down to win 17 and keep Highley in the game being 6 down. Into the back and Highley dominated with Stuart Gittings winning 10 and Danny Statham 11 to win the game for them.

Well done to Wem USC and Highley on their wins.
