On this day in 2005 it was a decisive day in that year’s Championship race. The champions Chester Road travelled to early leaders St Georges 16 points behind after St Georges had amassed an incredible 67 points from their first 6 games. But the Champions struck a decisive blow after winning there 9-5, and went onto win their third straight league championship. Wem USC beat Childs Ercall 13-1 and by 99 chalks, while Ford also had a big 12-2 win over Ifton. Castlefields beat Sir John Bayley 10-4, and Meole Brace defeated Wrockwardine Wood 8-6. Newport won away for the first time in the league, doing so 8-6 at Donnington Wood in a game of five single figure cards.
