We had two winners of competitions today as our players didn’t waste any time in making their mark on a much reduced competition circuit this season. Callum Wraight of Castlefields won the Gambart Baines finals after being in Scarborough all week. He beat Ira Jeffers 8 in the final, after recovering from being behind in his Semi Final to defeat Paul Mottram 18. He also win 8 in the Quarter Finals versus Ken Wale.
Scott Simpson from Sir John Bayley won the Stockingford Open after beating Jordie Baddeley 16 in the final. He had defeated Ryan Prosser 16 in the Semi Final, Harry Chapman 14 in the Quarter Final and Mark Burdett 11 in the last 16. Castlefields’ Jon Palmer had reached the Semi Finals, losing 15 to Jordie. He had beat Mark Denman 14 and Liam Dennis 9.

Jack Hewitt of Hanmer reached the Semi Final of the Castle Sports competition, before being denied by Lee Johnstone 18. He had a fine win against Glyn Cookson 16 in the Quarter Final after defeating Ashley Tattersley 12 first game. Highley’s Darrell Handley won his first game 18 against Chris Bly, but lost out to eventual winner Wayne Ditchfield 17 in the Quarters. Our league secretary Martin Gaut also made the last 16 but lost 9 to Jack Hargreaves first game.
