Two semi finalists for Ifton in CCF Open

The Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier Bowling League had two semi finalists in the 2017 CCF Open, both from Ifton, but it was Ben Percival of North Midlands who won the competition, beating Jason McLoughlin 14 in the final. Andy Hughes lost to Ben 7 and Leighton Roberts to Jason 17 after both had fine runs. Andy had beaten Danny Edkins 14, Sir John Bayley’s Chris Ward 18, who had beat Paul Bailey 13 first round, and then Craig Wilson from Meole Brace 14, whose fine form had continued until the Quarter Finals. He had beaten Tommy Johnstone 13 first round and Lewis Scott of St Georges 11, who got past Andy Cairns 15 first game, before coming up against Andy. Leighton beat Jamie Dunn 13, Glyn Picknell from St Georges 14, who beat Dave Jackson 16 first round, and then Cliff Johnson 9 in the Quarters. Mark Taylor of Castlefields won his first game 13 against Tom Palmer but lost to Cliff 18, while another St Georges player Pete Grimston got 20 first round against McLoughlin as well as Gary Beff against Dane Hopwood. Last year’s most MVP winner Stuart Rutter lost first game 14 to eventual winner Percival.
