There were two narrow home wins for Hanwood and Wrockwardine Wood in the two rearranged games. Hanwood narrowly beat Sir John Bayley 10-4 and by just 2 chalks in a tense clash. The Bayley were mainly ahead with Chris Worthington leading the way with his 8 win to help them lead by 10 after the first four. Hanwood hit back with three winners in the middle led by Dave Payne’s 12 win but still trailed by 4. They closed the gap to 2 with the last 2 on, and Gordon Hawkins looked like he was going to seal a draw as he laid game on with a foot and two foot bowl at 20-19 down, but Mark Shore had other ideas and licked them to save and win the game. This left Kane Beaman 19-18 up on Phil Lyttle last on and was game on before Phil just managed to clip the block and stay on the green to claim one and then got two further singles to seal the aggregate for the home side. In Telford and Wrockwardine Wood beat St Georges 9-5 and by 13 chalks thanks to Mark Picknell’s best card of 8. Nigel Evans was best for the Dragons winning 14 who had three 17 winners in their 5.
The Bayley close the gap to 4 now while Hanwood are one behind St Georges in 6th place. Wrockwardine move up to 8th place, 7 points off the top half.
