Two finalists in Talbot!

Mike Beer of Castlefields won the Talbot Trophy to earn his place at Saturday’s Champion of Champions. He put behind him the disappointment of his narrow loss in the last 16 Autumn Waterloo to storm back and win at the Raikes Hotel after beating Scott Simpson from Sir John Bayley in the final 17. In the 1st round he beat Adrian Hodgon 7, then fellow young gun Ben Gloag 18, Gareth Coates from Yorkshire 14, and Isle of Man’s John Kennish 19 in the Semi Finals. Scott had beaten Mike’s team mate Rich Goddard 1st round 15, then Glyn Cookson 18, Chris Bly 11 and Robert Hitchen in the Semis 11. Greg Smith of Hanwood made the Quarter Finals before losing narrowly 20 to Robert Hitchen, after two comfortable wins against Mark Johnson 11 and Stuart Mort 9. Dave Lloyd from Bowring lost to Tommy Johnstone first round, as well as Callum Wraight to Gareth Coates.

The SPBL and Salop Leisure would like to congratulate Mike on his success.
