St Georges Open Weekend 1 Review

The Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier Bowling League took 5 out of the available 8 spots in the finals day line up at the St Georges Open this weekend. After an incredible effort by the members to get the green cleared on Saturday Morning, we had two qualifiers in the rearranged morning session with Castlefields’ Jon Palmer and Sir John Bayley’s Scott Simpson both qualifying comfortably by beating Hadley USC’s Nick Wyer and Ifton’s Martin Jones 8. On Sunday we took 3 out of the 4 positions available with the top two in last year’s League Averages getting through. Winner Pete Farmer from Newport will be one of the favourites on finals day on his old green but had a tough game to qualify against the improving Josh Mordue, beating him 18. Runner-up Callum Wraight from Castlefields will also be one of the favourites on finals day, he got past James Southern 12 to qualify. Sir John Bayley’s Paul Evans was the other qualifier, having a fine win over Glynn Cookson 16 to seal his place.
