Wem USC will look to mark their first appearance in Pool A since 2014 with a win over Hanwood at Ifton. Captain Scott Thomas says “we’re looking forward to taking on a good Hanwood side tomorrow. We’ll be putting out a strong side so hope to be competitive and progress if possible. It’ll be a good competitive game no matter what.” Hanwood are looking for their first ever Pool A or B final and win silverware like they did last year with the Alan Mayhew Trophy. Newport will look to put the disappointment of losing the league to Castlefields by winning a trophy as they take on Wrockwardine Wood at Sir John Bayley. The Wrockites earned a good top 6 finish but will also try to get over the disappointment of finishing below rivals St Georges. St Georges will look to continue their excellent second half form as they play the holders Sir John Bayley at Newport. The Bayley will want to add silverware to their KGJ Insurance County Cup triumph.
Bylet will look to build on their best ever season by winning the Pool B for the second time. However the only time they’ve won a game in this competition is when they won it in 2010, so a win tonight would be a rare one as they take on Meole Brace at Burway. Skipper Scott Harries comments “We are looking forward to one last hurrah to try and end the season on an already massive high. We’ve had our most successful season ever and it’d be great to try and put some gloss on it. I have a good 8 available to me so I’m confident we can produce the goods, however Meole Brace won’t be easy and I’m sure they would like one last run in a Cup before the bowls go away in the loft for the winter so we’ll have to be on our toes from the off.” Record winners of the Pool B Ifton take on Chester Road in what promises to be a close game on Hanmer, both teams would love some silverware to cap off tough seasons. Burway are the holders of this competition and have an incredible record in this competition, they’ve only not reached the final once in five seasons, winning it three times. They play bottom placed Hanmer, who will use this game as valuable match practice as they take part in the playoff final on Friday, and would love a win to boost confidence ahead of that game.
A reminder that it is dress code and that teams are to give £4 each to the host club.
