The SPBL presentation evening was held at Burway Bowling Club last Friday (13th October) following the conclusion of the finals of Pool A & B Premiership Trophy.
The League Chairman, John Nash, welcomed players and supporters to Burway Bowling Club, and thanked the club for the use of their greens and facilities.
The first players award to be presented was the Mike Hinton “Pairs” winners. In May, Dave Rhodes and Chris Grocott (St Georges) beat Andrew Duckett and Charlie Weaver (Chester Road) in the final at the Bowring. County President Isobel Jones presented Dave Rhodes with his engraved tankard and The Mike Hinton Trophy. (Pictured below)
The first individual players award to be presented was the Premier League Merit winner. In August Andrew Moss (Chester Road) beat Dave King (St Georges) in the final at the Bowring. Isobel presented him with an engraved tankard.
The next individual award was for Peter Farmer who won the Neville Edwards Trophy for the League Averages and Isobel presented him with the Trophy, tankard and £100 award.
The last individual award was Clay Flattley (Castlefields) and Paul Griffiths (Chester Road), who both won 14 consecutive games in the season and shared the £100 award.
The first team award to be decided this season was the Alan Mayhew trophy and Alan Mayhew, the donor and Castlefields Captain, stepped forward to receive the trophy from Isobel.
The awards were made to tonight’s Pool A & B winners with Dave Rogers (pictured below left) representing Chester Road and Rob Jones (pictured below right) from Ifton collecting the respective shields from Isobel.
Next up were the team prize money. Chester Road, who finished third, and Dave Rogers collected the cheque for £600.
Next up was Alan Mayhew representing Castlefields, who finished runners up and received a cheque for £700.
And finally, Mick Jones representing Champions elect St Georges, received the League Trophy from Isobel and a cheque for £1,000.
