2001 Presentation Evening

The SPBL presentation evening was held at Greenfields Bowling Club last Friday (12th October) following the conclusion of the finals of Pool A & B Premiership Trophy.

The Chairman, David Astbury, welcomed the guest of honour Mike Hinton, Shropshire County President representing the Premier league and his wife Joy.

 

The first award to be presented was the individual Premier League Merit winner. In August James Grimston (Donnington Wood) beat Tony Rhodes (St Georges) in the final.  Joy Hinton presented him with an  engraved tankard. (Pictured below)

The next award went to Paul Williams who won 23 league games this season and picked up the League Averages Trophy, just in front ofSt Georges player of the year, Alan Palin as he had a better aggregate.

 The last individual award was made to Battlefields Colin Beaman who won 12 consecutive games in the season.

The first team award to be decided this season was the Alan Mayhew trophy and Jim Fletcher the Donnington Wood captain stepped forward to receive the trophy from Joy Hinton.

The awards were then made to tonights Pool A & B winners and John Breeze (pictured below left) representing Donnington Wood and Allan Gaut (pictured below right) from Wrockwardine Wood collected the respective shields.

The next presentations involved the representatives of the member clubs collecting their prize money for the season from the County President’s wife Joy Hinton. (Pictured below)

 

 John Nash, representing Meole Brace, who finished 3rd and were the most improved team this season, collects their cheque. (Pictured Below)

 Next up were Castlefields who finished as runners up and Graham Rogers collected the cheque.

And finally, Mick Jones the captain of Champions elect St Georges  received the League Trophy from Joy Hinton.
