Finals<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nicky Jones made history as he became the first Ifton bowler to win the SPBL Merit. He defeated Jamie King in the final 18, coming back from 17-11 down after an even start between the two bowlers. Nicky played the corners well in the Semi Final against Mike Beer, racing 14-3 up, and didn’t allow Mike to get back at him, winning 13. Jamie had an even start against Josh Bradburn, but from 13-10 down went 16-13 up and won 14. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Quarter Finals Nicky Jones had a slow start against Josh Cotton but from 7-5 down went full corners and won 10. Mike went from 5-3 up to 12-3 up against Mark Thomas and won 8, while Josh Bradburn raced 10-2 up on Martin Lloyd and won 8 playing very well on the shorter marks. Jamie King was 5-0 down early on against Rich Lawson but went 10-5 up and won 10 in the corners. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jamie King and Mark Thomas qualified at the Bylet. Jamie defeated Meole pair Dave Redge 20 and Will Childs 9, after Will beat Phil Jones 13. Mark took three good wins to get through, Pete Grimston 20, Josh Hale 16 and Tony Rhodes 17 after Tony had beat team mate Joe Killen 19 and Chris Worthington 16. Joe had earlier got past Tom Roden 9, and Josh Hale beat Hayden Lewis 13. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mike Beer qualified after defeating Dave Bamford in a high quality qualifier 11 after racing 11-4 up and holding off a comeback when Dave got back to just 13-9 behind. Mike had beaten Dan Williams 11 after going 11-5 up and running out from 14-11 ahead. Dave defeated Simon Lane 13 after virtually running out from 13-11 up. In the first round of games, Dan Williams got past Craig Jones 14, a 13 break from 7-4 down being the difference. Simon fought back from 11-6 and 16-10 down to run out from 20-16 behind against team mate Dave Turner, while Dave Bamford was 8-4 down on Gary Neal, but helped by a mark down the edge, won 13. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nicky Jones qualified at Chester Road after defeating Ian Howell 7 in the qualifier. He had beaten Gary Whitehall 13 and Jamie Brookes 18 to get that final, while Ian defeated Dave Ellison 9, who had beaten Connor Whitehall first game 12. Gary Whitehall defeated Ed Proudlove 7 in his first game. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former winner Martin Lloyd qualified at Meole Brace, along with Shropshire Merit winner Rich Lawson. Martin beat Michael Cooper 17 in the qualifier, resisting a fightback after Michael got back to 17 across from 17-11 down. after getting past Spencer Clarke 9 and Alex Jones 16. Rich Lawson defeated Gary Beff 11, going 17-8 up from 8-7 down. He had beaten Ben Hinton in his first game 17, while Gary got past Jon Palmer 17. Michael had beaten Stu Rutter 15 and Steve Heighway 10 in his two games before. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two Josh’s qualified at Sir John Bayley as Cotton and former winner Bradburn got through. Cotton beat Clay Flattley and Jacob Ash 20, before getting past Sarah Weaver 17. Bradburn defeated Ben Parkes 17 and another former winner Liam Stevens 18, Liam having beaten Reece Farr 19 and Aaron King 20. Sarah had got past Pete Farmer 17 and Bruno Heath 11, while Jacob beat Martin Gaut 13 first game, and Pete defeated Scott Moseley 13. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
