They took advantage of an under strength Fields team to have 6 winners on the Bylet, Andy Jones the best of them 5. Keith Walton was the best for Fields 19. It was much closer on Wrockwardine Wood as Newport defeated Sir John Bayley by just one chalk. Dave Rhodes&#8217; 9 win was the difference, with Chris Ward best for the Bayley 10. St Georges beat Hanwood by 16 on Sir John Bayley with 6 winners. They had to fight back though, Phil Jones getting 17 from 12-3 down, and Clay Flattley winning 20 from 10-2 down. Pete Grimston was best winner 12, with Simon Lane and Ash Wellings the winners for Hanwood 17.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Pool B<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Chester Road put their league troubles behind them as they beat Hanmer by 52 with all 8 winners on Wem USC. Andrew Davies was their best winner 5. Captain Paul Fowles said it was a &#8220;good win. We played well the last few weeks so I expected to win. We have had a more steady team of late so looking forward to the next round. It is the only Premier cup we have not won in the Prem so we are going for it.&#8221; Highley&#8217;s first game ended in a 31 shot win over Meole Brace on the Bowring. Spokesman Rob Burroughs says &#8220;it was a great win over a good Meole Brace side. Dave East was his usual self in being best winner 9, while Jack Hill fought back well from 14-7 down to get to 19 in the front. The back four did what they needed to do and were solid in having all four winners.&#8221; Julian Cooke was best winner 17 for Meole. Record winners Ifton beat Burway by 17 on Hanwood.
