On this day in 2018 Castlefields won a record 10th league title. They won 13-1 at home to Hanmer, matching Newport’s 13-3 win at the Bowring to be 15 points clear with one game left. The result also confirmed that Hanmer were to finish bottom of the league for the season. St Georges beat 4th place rivals Hanwood 12-2, while Chester Road and Wrockwardine Wood beat Bylet and Ifton 11-3 respectively. Burway defeated Meole Brace 10-4, while Sir John Bayley won 11-5 at Wem USC.<\/p>\n

Pete Farmer also won the League Averages that night for a second successive season.<\/p>\n
