On this day 11 years ago Castlefields retained the league title with 7 winners at the Bylet, with nearest rivals Chester Road getting 5 winners at Sir John Bayley. St Georges just missed out on 2nd despite a 10-4 win at Meole Brace. Bylet’s 7-7 result meant they finished one point clear of Childs Ercall at the bottom of the table after they just got 4 at Wrockwardine Wood, with Archibald Worthington’s 11-3 win over Ifton and Ford’s 10-4 victory versus the Bowring keeping them clear of trouble. Newport beat Wem USC 11-3 in the other game of the night.<\/p>\n
