Shrewsbury Derby, Bayley hope for repeat, Hanwood face tough trip<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Shrewsbury derby headlines week 11 of the Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier Bowling League as Castlefields host Meole Brace. The Fields have been flying this season, averaging 10 points a game, but know they need a good win to keep the pressure on the leaders Wrockwardine Wood, who they host next week. Meole have done very well so far and find themselves in 5th place. Joint captain Mark Thomas says “Castlefields have got off to a great start this season and look to be Wrockwardine’s main challengers. We are playing well and look forward to our trip to Queen Street. We are not far off full strength and expect a decent return.” Wrockwardine themselves will look for a big home win over a struggling Chester Road side who are in need of points at the bottom of the table. Hanwood are behind the top two, but face a tough trip up the A5 to Ifton. Ifton have been playing well lately, and captain Dickie Jones says “our form has picked up recently and we will need to be at our best against a Hanwood side that sit third in the league.” Champions Sir John Bayley are a team in need of picking up some good points, and travel to a green that they have an excellent record on in Highley. They won 15-1 there in 2019, and would dearly love a repeat to give themselves a chance of hauling in the top two. However Highley come off a draw at Chester Road and an impressive home win over Hanmer. St Georges are in that group behind the leaders and entertain a Bylet side that have struggled away so far, but did win on St Georges a few years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Newport come off a good result at Bylet last week and will host a Burway side eager to bounce back from their home loss last week against the league leaders. Wem USC had a good home win two years ago but then only got 2 at Meole last week, so will want to replicate that home form against Hanmer, who were unlucky last time out at Highley. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
