Wrockites stun Fields, Chester Road bounce back, Hanwood win away<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wrockwardine Wood stunned Castlefields as they won 11-5 at Queen Street in week 12 of the Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier Bowling League. Skipper Rob Jones said it was a “high quality game from both teams. To go to Castlefields and produce a result like that is exceptional. I just can\u2019t say enough about the group of players I have and their determination and mentality this year. Full credit to Castlefields it\u2019s a tough place to go and you get nothing easy there, but they were very classy in defeat.” Mark Jones was their best winner 14, with Mike Beer and Russell Pugh best winners for the home side 15. Sir John Bayley stayed in third after a 10-4 win over Wem USC as Spencer Clarke was best winner 8, with Colin Smith and Derek Wright best winners for the visitors by the same score. Hanwood kept up with the Bayley by winning 10-6 at the Bylet. Joint captain Ash Wellings said it was a “really pleasing away performance and result. We played really well last week at Ifton and were unlucky not to take the aggregate but we were delighted to nick the aggregate this week as we all know them 4 points for an away win makes such a difference. The game was all square with one game left on the green which was 11-11 so credit to Simon Lane winning 12 from that point. Big win for us with two home games coming up for us now we\u2019re looking to continue the good form.” Best winner for them was Rich Lawson 9, as Sam Millward kept up his fine form for the Bridgnorth side to be best winner 8. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chester Road earned an amazing 13-1 home win over St Georges, considering just two home games ago they got just one winner at home. Captain Gary Beff said it was “a fantastic much needed and well deserved win, hopefully a spring board for the rest of the season.” Dave Gourlay was best winner 8, while Mike Wainwright was the Dragons’ winner 17. Meole Brace kept up their good home form with a 10-4 win over Highley. Julian Cooke was best winner 3, with Rob Burroughs best for the away side 7. Burway also won 10-4 over Ifton as Ben Allen was best winner 3 and Ian & Nicky Jones best for the Miners 7. Newport will be happy with their 5 winners at Hanmer as Pete Cookson was best winner 8. For the home side it was Alan Faulkner best with his 3 win. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wrockwardine Wood lead by 12 to Castlefields, who are a further 21 ahead of Sir John Bayley. Bylet are 6 adrift of Wem USC at the bottom of the league. Alex Jones leads another 4 players on 10 wins, as Mike Gilpin made it 9 wins on the bounce to lead the most consecutive wins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
