Wrockties face tough trip, South & North Shropshire Derbies<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The league leaders Wrockwardine Wood face a tough trip to Hanwood in week 14 of the Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier Bowling League. They lead by 12 points at the halfway stage and know two good results in their next two away games could all but seal it. Hanwood are currently in 3rd and know a big win could put some doubts in the Wrockites’ minds. Joint skipper Ash Wellings though says “Wrockwardine pretty much got the league wrapped up now and are playing well so we know it’ll be a tough game. We’re experimenting with a few players who are stepping up a level and there’s a really good feel about the team at the moment so we’ll do our best to get a positive result.” Castlefields in 2nd face a trip to Newport where they could do with a win to keep the pressure on at the top. Newport skipper Ayden Smith says “we expect a tough task tomorrow night. We all know Castlefields are a team full of quality. Our team are forever improving and playing against experienced players like these will only make us improve. Any kind of win will be a big milestone.” Sir John Bayley in fourth face a trip to Ifton who have been playing well lately, but did only just win their last home game against Hanwood. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a South Shropshire Derby between Highley and Bylet, the bottom two clubs in the league at this moment. Highley are currently 10 points ahead of their rivals, and know a big win could be a big blow to their opponents. Bylet spokeswoman Cheryl Caswell says “as a team we know we are in for another tough game and, although collectively we have some knowledge of Highley, we aren’t expecting to much but will try and graft for as many points as we can. However the game goes, we look forward to the post match company and drinks in the Black Horse with our friends from down the road.” There is also a North Shropshire derby as Hanmer entertain Chester Road, with both teams just above Highley in the table. Hanmer captain Mike Gilpin says “we return to Hanmer this week looking to maintain our good home form against our local rivals from Chester Road. I’m expecting a tough game as both sides will be looking for a good result to move themselves away from the bottom of the table.” Wem USC will be looking for a good home win over Burway to move themselves away from the bottom, but Burway have been playing well, only losing by 9 chalks last week at St Georges. St Georges will hope for an easier game this week against Meole Brace, but Meole themselves were within one chalk of a good win at Newport last week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
