Adderley start life with win, Miners & Roaders win away, Hanwood start top<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adderley started off their life in the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League with a solid 10-4 win over the Bylet. Ian Howell and Alan Boulton were best winners 10 for them, with Jason Groom and Cheryl Caswell best for the visitors 11. Hanwood find themselves top after the first set of games with a 13-1 win over Wem USC. Captain Rich Lawson said “it was a very encouraging start, there were some good battling performances and on another night the scoreline could have been a lot different. This gives us something solid to build on ahead of our next fixture. I must pay credit to our groundsman Roger Houston for getting the green in such good condition considering all the bad weather we’ve had recently.” Phil Lyttle was best winner 5, with Ian Metcalfe the best winner for Wem 15. Chester Road had a fine 11-5 win at North Shropshire rivals Hanmer to please skipper Gary Beff. “It was a really good start to the season for us at a very difficult place to go to. Their home form last season was excellent so it makes it especially pleasing. Ben Hinton was best winner 7 for the Roaders, with home captain Ieuan Pugh leading by example winning 13. Ifton also won away 9-7 at Burway. Geraint Williams was best winner 7 as Kiah Roberts led by example for the Ludlow side 21-9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Champions Wrockwardine Wood started with a 9-5 win over Castlefields, the same score line they opened last season with! Skipper Rob Jones says it was “an excellent highly competitive game, with close individual battles across the card. Steve Broome & Dan Taylor were immaculate at the back to get us\u00a0over\u00a0the\u00a0line (Dan was best winner 7).” Mike Beer opened up his campaign to win a consecutive League Averages with a 21-6 victory to be best winner for the Fields. Sir John Bayley had an impressive start with an 11-3 win over St Georges. Captain Dave Lloyd said it was a “solid team performance, very good level of bowls played from both teams. Stuart Rutter was immaculate (to be best winner 3). We won the close games which we struggled with last season so that was a a massive plus to come away with. Got to mention the 3 winners for St Georges; Roy Bradburn, Martin Gaut (best winner 12) and Matty Rhodes, all bowled green superb. We wish St Georges all the best for the season.” Meole Brace also opened up with an 11-3 win over Highley, Chris Jones best winner 6 and Dave East best for Highley 13. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
