Fields face Derby, Hanwood make tough trip, League leaders travel to Wem<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Castlefields face a Shrewsbury derby as they make the short trip to Meole Brace in week 3 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. Captain Adie Rowe said “we’ve not won at Meole since 2015 so we will be trying to address that. We make a couple of changes and are ready to go.” Meole have had a good home record in general the last few years, but skipper Nick Davies knows facing the Fields will be a challenge. “We have a small squad to pick from this season and with 2 players unavailable we\u2019re down to the bare bones. However, we always look forward to hosting our local rivals Castlefields and this year is no exception. The green is in good condition however it\u2019s going to be a tough assignment against a strengthened side but the players are very much up for the challenge and we\u2019re looking to continue our competitive start to the season.” The other Shrewsbury side in the league, Hanwood, make the trip to Sir John Bayley. Skipper Rich Lawson knows the “Bayley away is always a tough fixture, even more so this season as they have added some quality players to what was already a strong squad. All we can do is go and do our best and see what happens on the night.” This game ended in a draw last season, but the Bayley know they will need to improve on that to maintain their title challenge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The early league leaders Ifton make the short trip to Wem USC. Skipper Dickie Jones says “we are in good form and hopefully it continues. Wem had a good win last week so we are taking nothing for granted.” Wem will look to build on that win against Adderley, but know it will be a tougher prospect. Adderley will face their big home test when facing last year’s runners-up St Georges at home, with the Dragons hoping to bounce back from just 3 winners in their opening match at the Bayley. Chester Road have their first home game of the season against the Bylet, who got 4 winners in their opening away match at Adderley. The Roaders will be looking to build on their fine away win in week 1 at Hanmer. Hanmer bounced back from that loss with a win at home to Hanwood last week, and face a short trip down the A49 to Burway, who will be looking to bounce back from their own home less in week 1 to Ifton. The Champions Wrockwardine Wood host Highley who just got 3 winners at Meole Brace in the first week. Wrockites captain Rob Jones says they are “looking forward to playing again after a week off last week as St Georges was flooded. We welcome Highley to WW and will look for a good points haul, new signing Greg Smith won\u2019t play tomorrow but will make his debut in the\u00a0coming\u00a0weeks.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
