Captain Dickie Jones said “we had a good start taking all the first four and shared the other games to give us a pleasing away win.” Best winner for then was Leighton Roberts 7 with Ian Metcalfe best for the home side 11 against his former club. Hanmer had an impressive 10-6 away win on their short trip down the A49 to Burway. Captain Ieuan Pugh said ”it was a good game all around. We went there with a plan and it was achieved perfectly. The aim going there was to start our away form with a bang and that’s what we did. I said to the lads before the game that we needed to take the momentum of beating WW in the cup into this game. We go into the next game in what will be a tough home game against the Bayley.” Andrew Armstrong was their best winner 7 with Dave Wilding’s 21-9 win best for the hosts. Castlefields finally broke their long winless run at Meole Brace with a 10-6 victory. Skipper Adie Rowe commented on a “great result for us in a hard fought match. I thought Meole played well on the whole but I think we just edged it on the night. There were lots of tight games, Mike Beer (best winner 5) and Jon Palmer stood out and we move on.” Best winner for the home side was Tracy Bound 14.

Adderley had a fine 11-3 win over St Georges to continue their good start to the season. Captain Gary Whitehall said “after a disappointing result at Wem in the previous game it was a good response to bounce back with a solid home score against a good St. Georges side. With a difficult run of games coming up it’s useful to have put a few points on the board early on.” Ian Howell was best winner 6, with Pete Grimston best for the Dragons 10. The Champions Wrockwardine Wood had a good 12-2 win over Highley, Steve Broome best winner 7 and Danny Statham and Reece Farr the two winners 20 for the visitors. Sir John Bayley continued their good start with a 11-3 victory over Hanwood. Ash Gregory was best winner 6, while away captain Rich Lawson led by example with a 21-9 win. Chester Road and Bylet was abandoned due to floodlight failure, with a date of 13th May now pencilled in to complete the fixture.

Won

Agg

Pts

Home Team

Premier

Away Team

Pts

Agg

Won

H

A

CH

PP

9

227

11

Adderley

V

St Georges

3

169

3

✓

6

216

6

Meole Brace

V

Castlefields

10

226

6

✓

4

192

4

Wem U S C

V

Ifton

12

231

8

✓

10

250

12

Wrockwardine Wood

V

Highley

2

177

2

✓

6

196

6

Burway

V

Hanmer

10

208

6

✓

9

225

11

Sir J Bayley

V

Hanwood

3

158

3

✓

Ifton continue form, Hanmer win away, Fields break run, Adderley impress Ifton continued their good start to the season with a 12-4 away win at Wem USC.
