Wrockites go top with two big home wins, Burway continue run, Bayley keep winning run going<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wrockwardine Wood got two big home wins to move top of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League in week 9 to leave captain Rob Jones delighted. “Delighted with two solid home wins against good opponents. We were looking for 22 points from the two homes before we played, and came out with 24, so very pleasing. Also great to see Richy Morris back in the team winning both his opening games.” They defeated Chester Road 13-1 with Jamie King best winner 4, while the winner for the Roaders was Gary Beff 13. Then they beat Meole Brace 11-3 with Sam Millward best winner 4, and Chris Jones best for Meole Brace 3. It was a tough couple of games for Meole who had lost at home to Burway 9-7 the night before. Burway skipper Jesse James was “really pleased with the atmosphere created and performance on Friday, on a green that was a difficult pace. We\u2019ve had a 20, 2 x 19\u2019s and 18 losers which gave us a shot at the agg and Dave Wilding (best winner 4) and Adam Dovey were outstanding and secured it for us. A shoutout to Meole who were gracious in defeat. Onto the next game and hopefully we can back it up.” Julian Cooke and Tracy Bound were best for Meole 13. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sir John Bayley kept their winning run going with an 11-5 win at Adderley. Captain Dave Lloyd said “we went to Adderley needing to do a job with a depleted side. Don\u2019t think many teams will go there this year with the green being that quick either. Very pleased with the result and the way all the lads battled! Getting another away win was vital.” Best winner was Josh Hale 2, while Ed Proudlove was best for the hosts 9. Castlefields dropped behind the top two with 5 winners at St Georges, Gary Neal and Callum Wraight best winner 13. For the Dragons it was Josh Bradburn best winner 10 to end Mike Beer’s unbeaten start. Wem USC got a vital win at home to Hanmer 8-6, Colin Smith best winner 5, with Jack Heweitt the same for the away side by the same score. Highley beat Bylet 9-5 and by just 6 chalks in another close game between the two. Frank Leek was best winner for them 8, with Tim Ealey best for the Islanders 7. The game between Ifton and Hanwood was postponed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wrockwardine Wood now lead by 4 to Sir John Bayley and another 4 to Castlefields, with both playing their game in hand on Friday. At the bottom Wem USC have closed the gap to 7 points to Adderley, who are 5 behind the Bylet. Steve Broome and Sam Millward are now top of the League Averages having won 9 playing a game more, with 6 players in behind on 8 wins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
