Dragons, Highley and Fields all win away, Burway get win<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were three away wins in week 18 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. Castlefields got a vital win at Chester Road to keep some pressure at the top of the league. Skipper Adie Rowe said it was a “solid win for us away from home, it possibly could have been a couple more on the night but fair play to the Roaders they kept going and credit to them. Some good wins for us from Mike Beer, Glyn Herbert and the returning Paul Williams (all best winner 7) after his recent marriage.” Dave Gourlay was best winner 9 for the Roaders. They gained a point on Sir John Bayley who beat Hanmer 10-4, Stuart Rutter leading the way 6, while Andy Armstrong was best for the away side 15. Wrockwardine Wood also gained a point with a 11-3 victory over the Bylet, best winner being Dan Taylor 3 and Dan Davies 10 for the Bridgnorth team. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

St Georges earned another away win 10-6 at Meole Brace, with captain Tony Rhodes said “the green suited us but very pleased with the result.” Best winner was Pete Farmer 21-4, with Doug Edwards best winner for the home side 8. Highley were the third team to win away, their first of the season, 10-6 at Wem USC. Stuart Gittings was best winner 6 for them and Luke Boniface best for the home side 13. Adderley leapfrogged Wem USC with a good 9-5 win over Ifton. Phil Jones was best winner 5, with opposition captain Dickie Jones best for them 10. Burway finally got their first win since the end of June with a 10-4 victory over Hanwood. Ben Allen was best winner 5, while Simon Lane best for the away side by the same score.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sir John Bayley are 10 clear of Castlefields, who are four ahead of Wrockwardine Wood. Wem USC are now 2 behind Adderley, with Burway a further 17 ahead. Alex Jones leads the League Averages on 16 wins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
