Bayley vice-captain Tom Roden said “there are no easy away games in the SPBL but this fixture is one of the most challenging. Wrock Wood have a great team, on a difficult green, and they all play it well. However, we need a positive result to keep up with Castlefields, and therefore need to go there aiming to win. Both sides are highly competitive, so we’re expecting a top quality battle Friday night.” Wrockwardine captain Rob Jones comments that “the Bayley are playing well and we are a little bit up and down. They will know they have to do well at ours to keep the pressure on Castlefields and I’m sure they are very confident that they can.” Castlefields face their own tough trip to Highley, who have lost just the two homes game this season. Highley skipper Reece Farr said “we have a tough game tomorrow against Castlefields, they come and play our green well. We will be looking at getting a result and return to our home form that we had at the start of the season.”

The bottom two are at home as they look to avoid finishing bottom and a potential play off at the end of season. Wem USC come off a fine win at Bylet last week but will be wary of playing a Burway side who won on their last visit up the A49 at Chester Road, and beat the Champions last week. Adderley host an up and down Hanwood side, who have had some poor results away since getting 7 at Castlefields at the end of the first half. St Georges can still catch Wrockwardine Wood in 3rd but will need a good home win over a Hanmer side who themselves are aiming for a first ever top 6 spot in the league. Ifton are in 5th and will look for a good home win over the Bylet to try and catch the two teams above them, while Bylet look to bounce back after a shock home defeat to Wem last week. Meole Brace host Chester Road with 3 points between the two, both knowing a good end to the season could see them get into the top half of the table.

Week 22 Fixtures:

Wrockwardine Wood v Sir John Bayley

Highley v Castlefields

Wem USC v Burway

Adderley v Hanwood

St Georges v Hanmer

Ifton v Bylet

Meole Brace v Chester Road

Leaders face Champs test, Fields travel to Highley, Bottom Two at home The league leaders Sir John Bayley travel to current Champions Wrockwardine Wood in week 22 of the Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier Bowling League.
