Bayley extend lead, Wem USC move level, Hanwood back up, Meole stun Burway<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sir John Bayley have extended their lead at the top of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League to 6 points. They beat Adderley 13-1, but it could have been a different score line according to vice-captain Tom Roden. “Friday’s 13-1 win against Adderley was the gritty home performance we required at the business end of the season. On another night it could have easily been 10-4. Alex Jones won 20, having to put 2 inside Jamie Brookes 18″ lead last end after his opponent had fortunately sent the jack off, David Lloyd also got out 20, battling back well after going 13-2 down to Connor Whitehall, and Spencer Clarke trailed nearly all game to Ian Howell before getting out 19. Well done to Simon Tyler getting over the line for Adderley (21-15), and we wish them all the best in their battle for league\u00a0survival.” Ayden Smith and Stu Rutter were best winners 3 for the Bayley. Castlefields had a decent 11-3 win over St Georges to keep within touching distance of the leaders. Skipper Adie Rowe said it was a “good win for us 11-3 to keep us in it. St Georges are a good team so was pleased on the night. Russell “the cat” Pugh was the stand out coming back from 17-9 down to win 21-20 which is what we need to do at the end of the season, everyone battling for every point.” Adie himself was best winner 7, with Pete Farmer best for the visitors 14. Wem USC are now level with Adderley at the bottom after getting 4 winners at Hanmer. Best winner was Luke Boniface 12 with Dave Ellison best for the home side 9. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hanwood backed up their away win last week with a 13-1 victory over Ifton. Captain Rich Lawson was “really pleased to get such a good win, probable our best team performance this season. There were plenty of notable performances with Ash Wellings (best winner 5), Darren Wellings, Jon Mansell and Dan Williams all winning to single figures. Special mention though to Steve Heighway and Dave Turner who dug in to win their games and to Phil Talbot who came in at the last minute and ran out from 20-14 down.” Martin Jones was the winner for the Miners 13. Meole Brace stunned Burway with a 11-5 victory in Ludlow. Skipper Nick Davies says “finally, we won away from home, unlikely as it may seem we did talk about our chances of a win prior to the game. Our away form has improved greatly in recent months and we felt it was only a matter of time before we registered an away win! The Burway green is in good condition and the Meole players looked comfortable on it and played the green well. As always Burway played the game in the right spirit and there were some tight battles on the green throughout the evening but we held out to get a well deserved victory against a top team.” Tracy Bound was best winner 11, with Kiah Roberts best for the hosts 8. Wrockwardine Wood defeated Chester Road 12-4 with Josh Cotton best winner 10 and Martin Lloyd best for the Roaders 5. Bylet beat Highley 10-4 to close the gap on their opponents. Cheryl Caswell was best winner 8, while Dave East was best for the visitors 7. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sir John Bayley are 6 ahead of Castlefields, with Wem and Adderley level at the bottom. Alex Jones is one win ahead of Reece Farr at the top of the League Averages. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
