There are now 14 teams taking part in the 2024 Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League but it took a while to get up to that number. Initially 12 teams took part in the 1994 season, and Castlefields, after a long struggle and plenty of meetings, joined the season after to make 13. Plans were then made to increase to 14 in 1997 with the Bylet coming in, but Hadley USC pulled out just before the season. Ifton then came in 1998 to replace them, but Hanwood had to drop out. It was 1999 that saw the first 14 team league with the introduction of Childs Ercall. Since then only two seasons have featured 13 teams, 2005 when Craven Arms pulled out after a few games, and 2012, when Childs Ercall had to withdraw.
