They defeated second placed Castlefields to please captain Dickie Jones. “Good response after a disappointing result last week. We won all the first four with Darren Lacey winning 21-7 (to be best winner), won the middle 3-1 and the back was 2-2. Nick Jones played well to win 21-7 (to be best winner with Darren) and Tom Palmer played superb to win 21-6 (to be best winner for Fields).” The league leaders Sir John Bayley took advantage with a 10-4 win over the Bylet, but the visitors might be the happier out of the two teams. Best winner for the Bayley was Reece Farr 6 with Connor Warr best for the Bylet 9. Wrockwardine Wood lost ground to the leaders after just 5 winners at Adderley. Adderley skipper Gary Whitehall says “a good night with Wrockwardine and a steady home score. Some good performances on both sides, the stand out game for me was Ade Jennings against Sally King, neither player deserving to lose.” Gary himself was best winner 6, while Aaron King was best for the visitors 11.

St George’s kept their hopes of a top 3 position alive with a close 11-5 win at Wem USC. Captain Josh Bradburn said it was a “great team result to get a good away win. We had two or three games that came back to win or came close to winning which helped get us over the line.” Best winner for them was Pete Farmer 8, with Colin Smith best for the home side 7. Horsehay edged out Hanmer 9-5 and by 2 chalks to keep their hopes of avoiding bottom spot alive. Best winner for them was Spencer Collins 7 and best for the away side was Robin Bennett 3. Highley shocked Meole Brace to win there 10-6. Danny Statham was their best winner 11 with Julian Cooke best for Meole 13. Burway continued their good form with a 11-3 victory over Hanwood to move above them into 6th. Duncan Pressley was best winner 4 with Dave Burton best for the visitors 10.

Sir John Bayley are 11 ahead of Castlefields and another 7 ahead of Wrockwardine Wood. Hornsey are 6 behind the Bylet and another 25 behind Adderley. Callum Wraight is now two games clear at the top of the League Averages with 17 wins.

W

Agg

Pts

Home Team

Away Team

Pts

Agg

W

PP

Fri 2nd Aug Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier

9

234

11

Burway

V

Hanwood

3

175

3

7

226

9

Adderley

V

Wrockwardine Wood

5

189

5

8

224

10

Ifton

V

Castlefields

4

184

4

6

218

6

Meole Brace

V

Highley

10

226

6

8

217

10

Sir J Bayley

V

Bylet

4

157

4

5

210

5

Wem U S C

V

St Georges

11

215

7

7

209

9

Horsehay

V

Hanmer

5

207

5

Ifton keep record, Adderley shock Wrockites, Dragons edge home Ifton kept their unbeaten home record going in week 19 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League.
