The top two meet on Queen Street, as Castlefields host Sir John Bayley, just 24 hours ahead of their KGJ Insurance County Cup Final meeting. Bayley vice-captain Tom Roden says “Friday’s game will be our toughest of the season. Castlefields have a great team and know a good home win closes the gap with a handful of games to go. We’ll need to be at our best to get a positive result.” There is potentially a bigger clash at the bottom, as second bottom Bylet host bottom placed Horsehay, with just 6 points separating them. Horsehay spokesman Steve Reeves says “every game is a big game for us at the moment in terms of getting points on the board, but we really need to try and close the 6 point gap we have between ourselves. We always have good games against the Bylet and I’m sure this will be another.” There is also a Shrewsbury derby as Hanwood host Meole Brace. Meole skipper Nick Davies says “once more we look forward to a trip up the road to play our local rivals Hanwood. After our home defeat last week, we’ll be looking for a reaction but it’s going to be a difficult ask with the home team playing a pacey green well. We’re also missing a couple of the regular team players however, as always we’ll try our best and enjoy a great game with good friends.”

Wrockwardine Wood, in 3rd, will look to take advantage of the top two meeting as they entertain Burway, but the visitors are in excellent form and have moved up to 6th place. Ifton know a win at Hanmer tonight will help keep 4th place, while Hanmer will want to bounce back from their last home game, a 13-3 loss to Castlefields. St Georges will look to take advantage of any slip up from Ifton as they take on Adderley, who will be full of confidence after beating Wrockwardine last week. Highley had an excellent win at Meole Brace last week, and this week host Wem USC, who want to bounce back from a home loss last week.

Fixtures:

Castlefields v Sir John Bayley

Bylet v Horsehay

Hanwood v Meole Brace

Wrockwardine Wood v Burway

Hanmer v Ifton

St Georges v Adderley

Highley v Wem USC

Top & Bottom Two clash, Shrewsbury Derby There is a big clash at the top and bottom of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League in week 20.
