Level at the top, Bylet survive as Horsehay will finish bottom<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s dead level at the top of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League in week 25. Castlefields pulled off a great 14-2 win at Highley while the Bayley defeated Burway 10-6 away from home. Castlefields skipper Steve Peach says it was “our best performance of the season by a distance both on and off the green. Every player to a man played their part in what was an exceptional performance and continuing our superb form over the last few months. We are happy to have given ourselves a slim chance of regaining the league after waving it bye bye in June. We will continue to go about our business in the same nature that we have all season and that is by winning games\u00a0on\u00a0the\u00a0green.” Best winner for them was Hayden Lewis 7, with Dave East best for the home side 17. The Bayley’s best winner at Burway was Stuart Rutter 7, and Burway’s was Kev Dovey 8. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Horsehay are finishing bottom of the league as they are now 14 points behind the Bylet and have won more matches, meaning they cannot finish above them on games won even if they finish level on points. They had got a good 4 winners at Adderley, Richard Jones best winner 12 and Ed Proudlove best for the hosts 2. The Bylet got 3 winners at St Georges, led by Rob Renke’s 11 win. For the Dragons it was captain Josh Bradburn best winner 4. Wrockwardine Wood extended their lead in 3rd place with a 12-2 victory over Hanwood to please skipper Rob Jones. “Super win last night in our final home game. Surprised Hanwood came with such a strong opening 4, but the lads battled well to go 4-0 and 8-0 before they grabbed a couple of late points. As we look forward to the end of the season now, and the last game, we always hoped that the destination of the league was in our hands on the last day of the season, maybe not quite like this\u00a0way\u00a0though.” Best winner was Martin Williams 7 for them and Dave Payne 12 for the visitors. Ifton are 6 behind them after winning 9-7 at Wem USC. Skipper Dickie Jones says “it was a strange game. We were 2-2 then 6-2 down but managed to win 3 games at the back to seal a win that keeps us in contention for third place.” Nicky Jones continued his good form being best winner 8, and Simon Lewis was best for Wem 13. Meole Brace had a good 11-3 win over Hanmer, Mark Thomas and Doug Edwards best winners 6, and Dave Ellison best winner 4 for the away side. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Castlefields and Sir John Bayley are level with Castlefields leading on Games Won. Horsehay are 14 behind the Bylet. Callum Wraight has won both the League Averages and Most Consecutive Wins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
