Top two battle it out, Miners & Dragons target top three<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The top two battle it out in week 26 in potentially the closest ever finish in the 30 years of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. Two teams have never been level going into the last game of the season, and potentially both teams could finish level on points for the first time, with the title being decided on Games Won in favour of Castlefields if that happens. Both teams could also create history if they win by 12-2 or more, beating Wrockwardine Wood’s 271 points in 2022, and yet could still not win the league! Castlefields have the advantage of knowing a 14-0 victory guarantees them the league, but their opponents Wrockwardine Wood need the points to finish 3rd and also prevent their record being broken. Fields skipper Steve Peach says “we have just got to approach the game the same way as I\u2019ve been telling the lads the last couple of months, win our own individual battles and then worry about what\u2019s going on elsewhere after. We\u2019ve put ourselves in there with a chance after being a long way behind and that\u2019s testament to the lads, our form has been superb but there’s one more big push to go and Wrockwardine Wood will be a big test! So all to play for and may the\u00a0best\u00a0team\u00a0win!” The Bayley host Adderley, who potentially could still move up a place with a good points haul. Bayley vice-captain Tom Roden says “what a season, for two teams to be tied on 260 points after 25 games, it’s quite unbelievable. It’s out of our hands now, so we’ll go into Friday’s game aiming for 12 winners and see what happens. It’s going to be another\u00a0close\u00a0one.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ifton and St Georges will look to take advantage of any heavy defeat for Wrockwardine as they take on each other in St Martins. St Georges need to win at least 10-6 to have a chance of 3rd, and that’s if Wrockwardine only get one winner, but Ifton know a good home win could get them a first top 3 finish since 2015. Captain Dickie Jones says “we’ve played well all season at home to remain undefeated so hopefully that continues to get the result to pinch 3rd place.” Horsehay will look to enter the Play Off with some form as they host Meole Brace, who will be looking to try and keep 9th and overtake Highley in 8th. Bylet will be able to finally relax with safety assured now as they host Hanwood, who will want to try and keep 6th place from Burway, which could be difficult as Burway host Wem USC. Wem can finish as 8th or as low as 12th, but know a good result there could earn them the Most Improved Team prize of \u00a350, with them and Ifton favourites to claim that prize. Highley travel to Hanmer with an outside chance of a first top half finish, while Hanmer will want to finish a difficult season with a good result, they could get 8th if they win 14-0 and other results go there way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are 7 players in with a chance of finishing in the top 3 and grabbing the \u00a350 and \u00a325 prizes for finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
