Bayley joint captain Scott Simpson says “we welcome WW to Haygate Road in only the second game of the season so there is no real form to go by and the result will not ultimately define our season. But as usual we expect a tough game against a side that has recruited well during the winter.” Their other title rivals, Castlefields, will look to earn their first win of the season as they take on Shrewsbury neighbours Meole Brace, who come off a fine 11-3 home win last week. Skipper Chris Jones says “after a good start to the league campaign after last week, we go to one of the most difficult games in the season trying to improve on our previous year’s result against the current champions, which will be a tough ask for most teams this season, but we look forward to the challenge.”

St Georges will look to bounce back from their shock home loss to Wem USC as they travel to Hanmer, who come off a solid start with 4 winners at Highley. Captain Dave Ellison says “tonight we entertain St Georges and it’s a case of both our sides rebuilding this season. We were happy with our four at Highley last week and now try and maintain our good home form in general starting tomorrow night. I’m sure St Georges will battle for every point which they have always done in past seasons.” Wem USC will want to build on that fine win at St Georges as they entertain Highley, who come off that good win over Hanmer. Ifton had a poor start with 4 winners at Burway and will look for a good home win over Hanwood, who had a big home loss to the Bayley last week. Skipper Dickie Jones says we are “looking forward to our first home game and hopefully a good win. Robin Bennett makes his league debut for us after being unavailable last week and sure he will do well for us.” Bylet and Horsehay will be looking for their first wins of the season as they take on Burway and Adderley respectively, two games they both won last season. The visitors though will be looking for a good result, Burway nearly won at Bylet last year while Adderley will have green knowledge this time.

Week 2 Fixtures:

Sir John Bayley v Wrockwardine Wood

Castlefields v Meole Brace

Hanmer v St Georges

Wem USC v Highley

Ifton v Hanwood

Bylet v Burway

Horsehay v Adderley

Two rivals meet, Shrewsbury Derby, Hanmer aim to tame Dragons Two title rivals meet in week 2 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League as league leaders Sir John Bayley host Wrockwardine Wood, who narrowly beat Castlefields by 1 shot in last week’s opener.
