Bayley whitewash, Highley make history, Another close derby<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sir John Bayley produced a perfect response to their narrow defeat at rivals Castlefields last week as they whitewashed Wem USC in week 20 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. Joint captain Paul Evans says “we weren\u2019t leaving anything to chance on Friday when we welcomed Wem down to Haygate Road and did not take anything for granted and you could tell by the effort of all our players from 1-12 with excellent support around the green as usual for our lads. We knew we need a big result just to try and claw anything back on Castlefields to try and prolong the title race and we\u2019re very pleased to achieve a maximum points haul.” Best winner for them was Dan Taylor 6. They gained two points on Castlefields who won 12-4 at Burway. Best winner for them was Andy Armstrong 7, while for the home side it was Adam Dovey by the same score. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highely produced their first ever 100 plus win in the league with a 13-1 success over Adderley. Best winner for them was John Heath 3, with Gary Whitehall the winner for the Adders 20. They moved above Hanwood into 5th who just dipped out at Meole Brace 8-6 and by 3 chalks. Skipper Simon Lane says “as expected it was a close encounter. Nip and tuck throughout with Meole doing well to just hold on to the agg at the end.” Best winner for Meole was Andy Wigginton 4, with Jon Mansell the best for the visitors 2. Hanmer continued their good form with 7 winners at Bylet but lost out on aggregate. Joint captain Dave Ellison says “a thoroughly entertaining game on Friday that saw us 2-2 after the first 4 and 4-4 after 8 blocks off. We then managed to win 3 of the back 4 to reach 7 winners but couldn’t get back the damage John Palmer did with his 21-6 (to be their best winner) early doors. Special mentions to Dan Beeston (best winner 9) and Marcus Hughes for us and Ant ‘I love a close game’ Harper for winning 21-20 again.” Horsehay did better than last season but got just 2 winners at Wrockwardine Wood. Their best winner was Craig Baugh 10 with the Wrockites best being Scott Moseley 9. St Georges had a good 8-6 win over Ifton. Lewis Scott scored a best win of 7 against his former club, with Joe Langford best by the same score for the away side. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Castlefields are 8 ahead of Sir John Bayley, who are 22 ahead of Wrockwardine Wood. Horsehay are 20 behind Hanmer, who are 11 adrift of Bylet. Scott Simpson is 3 wins ahead now at the top of the League Averages, with 4 players still on 11 Most Consecutive Wins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
