A disappointing entry of only 14 pairs took part in the\u00a0Mike Hinton Doubles trophy today at Remans. The final saw Richard Lawson and Rob Roden from Bowring take on Peter Farmer\u00a0and Chris Ball from Childs Ercall & St Georges. The former St Georges team mates stormed into a 7-0 and 12-3 lead until three inspired woods by Rob led the Bowring pair to a 13-12 lead. The Bowring pair then led 17-15 and were game on, lying with\u00a0four, until Peter played a match saving bowl to “run” the jack and make a pair to tie the match at 17 across. The Bowring pair regained their composure and eventually won 21-19 to take the first prize of \u00a3160 on a green that was in excellent condition and a credit to the Shrewsbury based club.<\/p>\n

Earlier,\u00a0Roden and Lawson beat Charlie Weaver and Andy Duckett\u00a0from Chester Road 16 in the semi finals, while Farmer and Ball\u00a0beat Glyn and Darren Wellings\u00a0from Meole Brace 20 after being 19-11 down.<\/p>\n
