They beat them 9-5 to please captain Curtis Metcalfe. “We went into the game knowing it was always going to be a tough test but on the back of Wednesday’s performance against Castlefields we knew we have it in us to get the win and starting the night 5-0 up with big wins from Scott Thomas (best winner 6) and Tim Jordan set the tone for the night. We went on to get 2 more winners but had close games with myself and Scott Harries and Colin Smith and Josh Bradburn with them just going SJBs way but 9 points on the night was a fantastic result building on a good start to our season.” Bayley’s best was Chris Worthington 9. Castlefields took advantage with a 10-6 win at Hanwood. Wayne Rogers was their best winner 1, with Rich Lawson best for the home side 8. Wrockwardine Wood hit form again with a 14-0 victory over Hanmer. Skipper Liam Stevens was “pleased again with the home performance, we played really well. Aside from the game against Castlefields who were excellent, we have been pretty flawless at home dropping two points in four games. It won’t get us back into contention but it was nonetheless a pleasing response after two poor weeks.” Best winner for them was Aaron King 9.

Meole Brace surprised Burway with a 12-4 victory there. Captain Chris Jones comments on “a very good away performance from the team on a green in excellent condition and perhaps favourable to away bowlers. We were very good throughout including a great comeback from Doug Edwards after being 17-9 down and ran out.” Julian Cooke was their best winner 6, with Russell Davies best for Burway 14. Woore had a good 12-2 win over Bylet, Ben Hinton best winner 6. Bylet captain Cheryl Caswell was best for them 7. Adderley extended their lead over them with 4 winners at St Georges. Adrian Jennings was best for them 16, while Steve Pessall was best 21-4 for the home team. Ifton also won 10-4 against Highley led by Martin Jones and Joey Williams winning 6. Stuart Gittings was best for the visitors 13.

Castlefields now lead by 13 over Sir John Bayley, who are 6 ahead of Wrockwardine Wood, both having a game in hand. Bylet are 16 behind Adderley and another 4 adrift of Burway. Tom Palmer lost his first game to end his consecutive wins run at 10 games, but still leads the Averages.

W

Agg

Pts

Home Team

Away Team

Pts

Agg

W

PP

Fri 5th Jun Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League Premier

12

252

14

Wrockwardine Wood

V

Hanmer

0

162

0

8

239

10

St Georges

V

Adderley

4

180

4

8

234

10

Ifton

V

Highley

4

183

4

10

233

12

Woore

V

Bylet

2

151

2

7

214

9

Wem U S C

V

Sir J Bayley

5

199

5

6

191

6

Hanwood

V

Castlefields

10

222

6

4

183

4

Burway

V

Meole Brace

12

235

8

Wem stun Bayley, Meole surprise Burway, Wrockites back to form.
