Burway were not able to fulfil their match on Friday 17th July at Ifton as they did not have enough available registered players. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a result we have had to use match rule 9 which covers a team not turning up to fulfil a fixture that is not called off because of BCGBA or SCGBA fixtures or inclement weather or bereavement or if a County game is scheduled on that green within 7 days of the published fixture date as said in match rule 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Match rule 9 is below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
9 (a) If a team fails to play in a scheduled league match (other than otherwise provided for in rule 2 above) then the Fixtures Secretary must be informed within 24 hours of the reason why the match did not take place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
(b) The home club must confirm the reasons for failure to play in writing to the Treasurer\/Fixtures Secretary within 3 days and a copy shall be sent to the opposing club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
(c) The Management Committee will decide when the game will be played and depending upon the circumstances of the failure to play the match will consider whether it is appropriate for fines to be imposed upon one or both clubs and whether any of the clubs involved should be deducted seven points as a result of the match not being played.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Management Committee have decided to apply the seven point deduction to Burway, as advised in match rule 9, as well as give the club a \u00a350 fine, to be taken out of their prize money at the end of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is to ensure other clubs do not try and call games off if they are short of players or can’t field a full team as this could set a precedent if no sanction was made. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
However this rule will be discussed at the October Meeting to see how clubs want to progress with this rule when a team does not fulfil a fixture and have a definitive sanction rather than decided by the Management Committee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
