Bylet stun Archie, Champs gain on leaders<\/strong><\/p>\n

The result of Week 10 of the Flowfit Shropshire Premier League was bottom placed Bylet stunning Archibald Worthington by winning 8-6 on their green by the closest of margins. It means Bylet are now only two points behind Archibald Worthington at the bottom of the table. Bylet overcame two 21-6 losses with John Digby and Rob Adams winning for the home side, the latter the MVP award. But Rob Steventon responded with a 21-8 win and wins for MVP Mick Harries 10 and Chris Chamberlain 11 sealed the aggregate for the away side by a single shot.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile at the top Champions Newport gained two points on leaders Meole Brace with a 12-2 home win over Ifton. Russell Pegram was best winner for the home side winning 3 for the MVP award, while Craig Griffiths 16 was best for the away side also earning him MVP. The other winner for Ifton was Nicky Jones 18. Meole Brace beat St Georges 10-4, described by away captain Tony Rhodes as a “really top quality match where we came out on top. First four could have been even as Darren Wellings edged a quality game with Nige 16. Dave King was excellent for us against Colin Beaman whilst Craig Wilson did well to run out from 18-14 down against Mike Wainwright (which earned him MVP). \u00a0Glyn Picknell had a quality game with Glyn Wellings which he edged 18 (which earned Glyn MVP) whilst Pete Bound and Gary Neal were too good. I trailed Andy Wigginton 15-6 but ran out while Alan Palin was always in charge against Nige Bound (being best winner 13). Ian Gaut lead Doug Edwards 18-14 but just dipped out so well done to my side but could have been more.” The gap is now 5 points at the top but Newport have no game next week so Meole could take advantage, however have a tough game away at Ifton.<\/p>\n

It was a good night for away teams with Burway, Bowring Chester Road and SJB all enjoying good results. Burway were the best of the four sides earning an excellent 6 at Wrockwardine Wood, only dipping out on the aggregate by 5 shots. Kev Dovey was best winner for them winning 7 whilst Ben Allen was MVP for winning 10. The two Clee’s led the way for the home side, father Phil winning 4 and son Stuart 7 to earn the home side the extra two aggregate points, with Steve Roberts being MVP winning 11. Bowring gained an excellent 6 at Castlefields, but it could have been more after being 5-3 up going into the back four. Captain Rich Lawson however commented on “an excellent performance on what was a tricky paced green. I was hoping for around 4 winners so to get 6 was a bonus. I thought Aaron King, Jack France (best winner 12), Mark Taylor and Rob Roden all bowled very tight but best performance was from Dave Lloyd who was outstanding in beating Rich Goddard 19 (and earning the MVP). It gives us a boost going into next week’s game which is another tough one against Wrockwardine Wood.” Castlefields will be ruing that 4 19 cards went against them, however 2 did go for them. They sealed the aggregate with three single figure wins, Graham Wall and Adam\u00a0Jones 7, the former winning MVP, and Luke Jones 9. Chester Road gained a good 5 at Hadley USC, with Andy Moss leading the way winning 8 and the MVP award. Best winner for Hadley USC was Steve Homer 8, from 8-1 down which earned him the MVP award, and John Price 8. The Bayley will be very happy with their 5 at Wem USC who are proving a hard team to beat at home. Stuart Bailey was best winner for the home side winning 5 and the MVP award, with Chris Ward bettering that by winning 3 and the MVP for the Bayley boys.<\/p>\n

Rich Lawson still remains the only 100% player, but only just after running out from 19-7 down, with only 3 players behind him with 9 wins. Rob Burroughs still leads the way with 4 MVP awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
