Meole\u00a0and St Georges look for advantage, Telford Derby<\/strong><\/p>\n

We are two games short this week in the Flowfit Shropshire Premier League as Wem USC used their concession against Chester Road and Sir John Bayley used theirs against champions Newport. So leaders Meole Brace and 3rd placed St Georges will be looking to take advantage of 2nd placed Newport’s inaction but face contrasting games. St Georges will look for a big home win against a Archibald Worthington side who will be looking to bounce back from their shock home defeat against Bylet last week. But Archie have a poor record up on the top green so\u00a0St Georges will be confident. Meole face a tough test away at Ifton, with away skipper Mark Thomas knowing this as he “sees this as a difficult fixture as they are a good home side. Our games are always keenly contested and a win at Ifton would be a great result. We will need to play well and have any close games come our way. I am looking forward to a competitive match.” Home captain Dickie Jones also expects “a tough match as you would playing a team top of the league. They bowl our green well so any winning score would be a good result.”<\/p>\n

There is a Telford Derby this week as Bowring take on Wrockwardine Wood. Wrockwardine have been in form the last few games, although had a close call last week at home to Burway, whilst Bowring have dipped before their excellent 6 at Castlefields last week. Both captains are looking forward to a good game against a good team. Home captain Rich Lawson gives credit to his fellow skipper Stuart Clee for “doing a great job as captain and helping\u00a0them play well as a team. But we had a great result last week and need to follow it up with a good home performance. Ideally I’d like 8 winners minimum but to do that we will have to play tight as they tend to bowl our green well. Whatever the result I’m sure it will be a good atmosphere.” Stuart knows it “will be a testing game for us as it is always a hard encounter with the Bowring lads who we enjoy playing I will expect my lads to deliver a good performance like they have been all year. It’s always nice to come out on top in the local derbies and I am sure Rich Lawson will be thinking the same.”<\/p>\n

Bylet provided the most eye catching result of the season when they won at Archibald Worthington last week, but know they will have a tough test against Castlefields. Castlefields have been up and down this season, and will be looking to bounce back from winning only 8-6 last week at home But Bylet\u00a0will be looking to take advantage of a tough game for Archie to move off the foot of the team for the first time this season and create a bit of breathing space. Burway have enjoyed good home wins this season and will look for another at home to Hadley USC, especially being buoyed by reaching their first Alan Mayhew Final on Wednesday. But Hadley have scored 4 and 6 on their two visits there so will be looking for something similar.<\/p>\n
