They were comfortable winners on the aggregate with four single figure winners; Scott Harries 3 (and MVP), Russ Pegram 5 Dave Rhodes 7 and Phil Emery 8 to win the chalks by 32 shots. For the home side Andy Moss was best winner winning 6 whilst Mark Holland won MVP for winning 9. Down the A49 at Burway, Meole gained an excellent 6 winners but dipped out on the aggregate by 15 shots. Glyn Wellings was one of two 20 winners for the visitors, beating former League Averages winner Wayne Rogers to earn MVP, whilst Colin Beaman was their best winner winning 14. For the home side Russell Davies was their best winning 10 whilst junior Lewis Rogers won MVP for winning 14.

St Georges moved up to third and closed the gap on the top two by beating Wem USC 11-3 with 5 single figure winners led by Simon Rhodes and Mike Wainwright 7, the latter winning MVP. Chris Brettell was best winner for the away side, earning MVP in the process. Ifton moved down to 4th but captain Dickie Jones was happy with a “good team performance with Megis Phillips being superb (earning MVP), Ian Metcalf doing very well in his first season in the Premier League on strange greens, and Nikki Jones and Craig Griffiths (best winner 2) both continuing their good run so 5 was a good return there.” Best winner for the Bayley was Spencer Clarke 4 whilst Paul Reeves won MVP for winning 7.

The biggest winners of the night was Castlefields beating Archibald Worthington 12-2, which in turn helped Bylet get off bottom spot as they won 9-5 against Wrockwardine Wood. Graham Rogers was Castlefields’ best winner 8, which won him MVP, while Steve Heath and Ian McDonald both won 16 for the visitors, the former winning MVP too. At Bylet Rob Steventon was MVP for winning 4 at the back, but Wrockwardine took the other three games to get a decent 5 considering they had players missing in the Isle of Man and holidays. Steve Downs was one player to come in and he was joint best winner with Martin Williams, with Andy Jones winning MVP.

So the gap at the top is just one point, with Newport having a game in hand on Meole in top place. St Georges are 9 behind the leaders. At the bottom Bylet are now 3 points clear of Archibald Worthington.

Rich Lawson didn’t play tonight so is 12 out of 12 still but 5 players have took the opportunity to close within one point of him.
