Meole lost by around 50 on there in the Alan Mayhew Semi Finals with 6 players so will have their work cut out. Meole got 4 there last year and 3 the year before but will need to improve on that for them to keep in the title race with just 4 matches left after this week.

It might not be such a significant week at the bottom as both teams face tough away games. Bottom side Bylet travel to Burway, a team that has been exceptional at home this season, so will have their work cut out to get some points there. The team directly above them by 3 points, Archibald Worthington, face perhaps a slightly easier trip to Bowring, but Bowring are a team in form and are the most improved this season and Archie haven’t scored more than 4 in their trips there.

The two most successful clubs in the League meet at Church Street, where St Georges take on Castlefields. Castlefields have done alright on the top green, scoring at least 5 the last four years, and with St Georges having two players out, Alan Palin and averages leader Glyn Picknell, they might fancy their chances of a good result there. But away captain Keith Walton knows “that we always find it tough playing at St Georges, especially this season when they are really playing well in both premier and summit leagues. So from our point of view we will take what we get and be grateful.” He added “I would just like to thank Tom Roden and the Bayley boys for their congratulations on our County Cup success when we played them last week, it was much appreciated”. The Bayley will be looking for a big home win to overtake St Georges when they take on Hadley USC at home. The twice they have met at the Bayley it has been completely different results, 8-6 two years ago but 13-1 last year so it will be interesting which way it goes this year.

Wrockwardine Wood are going well in 4th and know that they must stay focused on their last five games to be capable of achieving their highest ever finish this season, but this week face a tricky trip to Chester Road. They have only scored more than 4 there in two of their 21 visits in the league but this season Chester Road have struggled being in a lowly 10th place so Wrockwardine will be hopeful of a good points tally. Ifton, in 6th, will be looking for a good home win too when they take on Wem USC, who will be reeling from their home loss last week, their first in two weeks. Wem won their two years ago but Ifton are a different prospect this season and know if they want that 3rd place they will need a big home win with 3 out of their last 4 away from home.

Week 22 Fixtures:

Sir John Bayley v Hadley USC

Newport v Meole Brace

St Georges v Castlefields

Ifton v Wem USC

Burway v Bylet

Bowring v Archibald Worthington

Chester Road v Wrockwardine Wood

Top two meet, two most successful clubs clash It could be a significant week in the title race in week 22 of the Flowfit Shropshire Premier Bowling League as top of the table Newport meet 2nd placed Meole Brace. 15 points separate the two so a big win for Newport tomorrow will all but seal a …

[117,113,38
