Ifton play St Georges in a game called off on Friday 15th April due to a waterlogged green and Ifton know that 6 points will take them top of the league. But they will be looking for more than that given that in the two home games they’ve played this season they have scored 25 points. Captain Dickie Jones admits “our home form has been good and the confidence in the team is high so I expect us to achieve a decent win. St Georges are full of experience and it will be our toughest home game so far.” Opposition captain Tony Rhodes aims to bounce back from their disappointing 9-5 loss at Hadley USC on Friday. “Was disappointed last Friday but Hadley played well so need to bring our Sir John Bayley home performance (where they won 10-4) to Ifton as I think the Bayley are the best team on paper in the league. We need that performance again in order to pick up some good points.” The game finished 9-5 to Ifton last season and while St Georges would be happy with a repeat they know that Ifton are much stronger and will be looking for a better scoreline to go clear at the top.<\/p>\n
The 1st round of the Black Tech Ltd Alan Mayhew Trophy gets completed tonight as last year’s winners Newport play Meole Brace. These two met in the Semi Finals last year with Newport winning comfortably by 44 overall but with Newport having lost 5 players from that team and Meole having started well it could be much closer this season. Add in Meole played on Newport last week and got 5 winners and Meole may be the favourites. But captain Mark Thomas “expects a stern test as they have been our bogey side over the last few seasons but we hope to have a better result this time.” Newport captain Mark Selley will need to rally his troops after only getting one at Chester Road Friday, their worse result since 2007. He knows it will be a “tough game as they already have been on our green last week plus two of their county bowlers have been on there Sunday. They have also taken like a duck to water on their other green but you never know and we will be going for the win.” The winners of this game will play Burway.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
There is one game in the Flowfit Shropshire Premier Bowling League and the Black Tech Ltd Alan Mayhew Trophy.
