With the Merit two days away, we look back at last year’s competition at Allscott.<\/p>\n

Strutt clinches title<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stuart Rutter came on top of a decent 28 entries today in the BBranded Premier League Merit after beating Tony Rhodes 21-5 in the final today at a sunny but cool Allscott. Stuart, watched on by his family in the final, never looked back from leading 9-5 against Tony and played exceptionally well on this 25m mark to run out on him despite Tony hitting three good fires which were unlucky not to go his way.<\/p>\n

In the semi finals it was experience who triumphed over Newport youth as Stuart Rutter overcame an exceptional start by 19 year old Justin Pegram who led him 8-2 over the middle to win 13 in the corners, whilst Tony Rhodes used the other corners to his advantage as he beat 20 year old Jamie King 8.<\/p>\n
