St Georges captain Tony Rhodes will be looking for “an 11 or 12 then that would give us another four or five points to add to the advantage we already have.” But Wem USC have picked up getting 6 at Meole Brace on Wednesday and will be looking to continue their form. But Wem have a poor record up on the top green, only scoring 4 or more 4 times in the entire history of the league, their best being 6 in 2000. Bowring will be hoping for damage limitation and to keep ahead of the chasing pack as they travel to Ifton. But Ifton are still yet to get going again after a good start, and will be desperate to get another run going. Tonight starts a tough run for Bowring, but captain Rich Lawson is still happy to be up there. “It’s pleasing to be up there but we have a difficult run of fixtures coming up so it may well change. It’s really tight and we say every week that every point has to be played for because it’s going to be a really tight finish. There won’t be much separating the top four or five teams so we must battle in every game.”

Meole Brace will be looking to recover from their poor 8-6 win over Wem USC on Wednesday, but face a tougher task in playing arch rivals Castlefields. Captain Mark Thomas is hoping though that another home game “can benefit us, although Castlefields will enjoy a good running green.” Castlefields have still yet to fire, but have reached the Black Tech Ltd Alan Mayhew Final this week and will want to transfer that form to the league. They did beat Meole 9-5 last season but that was on the other green, so it could well be different, but regardless it promises to be a loud and intense night there! Sir John Bayley are another team yet to really get going but still sit handily in 6th 10 points behind top with another three teams on 72. They will be looking for a big home win like the 11-3 wins over Bylet and Wrockwardine Wood earlier in the season against Chester Road. But Chester Road will be looking to build on their 11-3 win themselves last week over Meole, and they did win their in the Alan Mayhew, albeit with just 6 players.

At the bottom Hadley USC are 3 points behind Wrockwardine Wood and both will be looking for good home wins over Burway and Hanwood respectively. Hadley captain Rob Burroughs knows “we need to start banging in big home wins to move off the bottom and hopefully the weather will help us achieve that. We beat Burway 11-3 last year and would love a repeat, but they will be stronger this season and it will be a tough ask. But if we are to get off bottom we need to start winning the close games, we lost another four last week that we should have won and we need every point we can get, they can make a huge difference at the end of the season, especially this one!” Burway have come into good form, getting two home wins over Bayley and Bowring following a 6 at Chester Road where they just dipped out on aggregate, and will be looking to repeat the 9-5 win over Hadley they experienced in 2014. Wrockwardine Wood have suffered four straight defeats but captain Tom Langford knows “we have had a tough month playing St Georges and Castlefields away but our confidence is back now and we are playing well after our 5 at Fields last week, it could have been 6 or 7! Hanwood are a strong side and it’s going to be a tough game but we are looking forward to it!” Hanwood have recovered incredibly well after their initial whitewash, being sat in 7th place after 10 games, and have won their last three games so the confidence will be very high! Bylet have started to struggle after a couple of good results losing to St Georges and Hanwood at home in their last two home games so will be looking to get back to winning ways there tonight. But they face the champions Newport, a team they haven’t beaten since 2010, and a team who are on the way up with some good performances, including a super 6 at the Bayley in their last away game.

Week 11 Fixtures:

Hadley USC v Burway

Wrockwardine Wood v Hanwood

Bylet v Newport

Meole Brace v Castlefields

Sir John Bayley v Chester Road

Ifton v Bowring

St Georges v Wem USC

St Georges look to extend lead, Bowring face tough trip, Hadley look to keep touch Flowfit Shropshire Premier Bowling League leaders St Georges will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the table in week 11 as they entertain Wem USC and 2nd placed Bowring face a tough trip to Ifton.
