St Georges roar back top, Hadley close gap, Bowring earn super 6<\/strong><\/p>\n

St Georges roared back to the top of the Flowfit Shropshire Premier Bowling League tonight as they beat previous leaders Chester Road 11-3. Stand in captain Ian Gaut commented on “another clinical home performance on a difficult night weather wise. Superb start from the first four with Glyn Picknell playing as well at home for a while (to be best winner and MVP 9). Chester Road showed some fight in the middle with Mark Holland winning from 20-16 down against Ian Gaut, but, Andy Moss apart (won 5 to be best winner and MVP), the Dragons’ back four steadied the ship to complete a good night’s work.” \u00a0Sir John Bayley are just one point behind in second as they beat Bylet 9-5 away to continue Bylet’s winless run. Scott Simpson was best winner for the visitors winning 5 to be MVP, while Scott Harries won 10 for the home side to be best winner and MVP. Hadley USC took advantage of this by beating Wem USC 12-2 to close the gap to just one point at the bottom. Captain Rob Burroughs was “delighted with the result, it was due to come together one night and it did! We played well as a team despite the poor weather and got a result which gets us back into the pack. It was nice to win the close games, Phil King winning 19 first four was massive to go 3-1 up and we never looked back. Could have been better as Mike Fielder virtually ran out from 12-3 down to win MVP but we are thrilled with the result, and need to kick on for the rest of the season with 154 points to play for!” John Potter was best winner for the Huskies 8, but James Duce took his 6th MVP for winning 12.<\/p>\n

Meole Brace are in 3rd, just two behind St Georges, as they beat Newport 10-4. Will Tarrell was best winner 5 while Nigel Bound picked up MVP for his 10 win. Alan Davidson was best winner for the Champions with Mick Jones picking up MVP for his 19 win last on. Over the other side of Shrewsbury, Castlefields’ home woes continued against Bowring as they only won 8-6. It was “a very pleasing result” for Bowring skipper Rich Lawson, “after the slightly disappointing result against Meole on Wednesday. To come away with 6 against a very good Castlefields side shows how we can bounce back. There were some great performances from the lads, John Cooke being excellent beating Clay Flattley, with Stuart Clee, Glyn Hayward and Steve Broome getting very good wins (John and Steve best winners 13). The game of the night though was Andy Jones against Rich Goddard with exceptional bowling from both, Andy was outstanding though to win 20 and gain MVP.” Best winner and MVP for Castlefields was Paul Williams 4. Wrockwardine Wood continued their revival beating Burway 11-3. Leader Tom Langford said “it was a great result for us. The Staffordshire lads put in an awesome performance and it could possibly have been 13-1. But we’ll take it and we need to carry that on now for next week.” For the home side Rob Jones was best winner 10 while Mark Picknell earned MVP for his 13 win, while recent Merit Champion Wayne Rogers won 11 to be MVP and best winner for the visitors.<\/p>\n

So at the top two points separate St Georges, Sir John Bayley and Meole Brace, while one points separates Bylet and Hadley USC at the bottom. Andy Moss leads the averages with 14 wins while James Duce has joined Stuart Rutter on 6 MVPs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
