They beat Thongsbridge by 30 in the final, Phil winning 11 at number 8 to seal victory, but it was Paul Ward&#8217;s 21-2 win that was the main difference. King George V had beaten Newdigate in an all Midland Semi Final by 33 with 5 winners, Paul the best again winning 10 with Phil also helping with a 12 card. Thongsbridge had beaten last year&#8217;s winners Parkfield Labour by 16 in their Semi Final. King George V&#8217;s closest call was the first round, as they only beat Lloyds Hotel by 5, Phil Clinton holding his nerve last on to win 18 to claim victory.
