Castlefields take massive step, Bowring earn excellent home win, Wrockites earn fab five<\/strong><\/p>\n

Castlefields took a massive stride towards the Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier Bowling League title as they won 11-3 at Burway in Gameweek 18. It was a comprehensive victory by nearly 70 chalks overall and vice-captain Keith Walton said the “win was impressive to say the least. The green was heavy which usually suits the away team but despite the rain the green held up very well which is down to the work done by Wayne Rogers on it. It was a top performance from start to finish!” Best winner was Steve Freer 7 while Nick Lewis was best for the home side 9. Bowring were also impressive winners 11-3 over Meole Brace. Skipper Jamie King said “considering the weather it was a great result for us! The team adapted really well to the conditions and it’s a good home win that we needed. We are in a good position in the league going into some tricky fixtures over the next few weeks.” Dave Lloyd was best for the home side winning 11 while Meole’s best was Doug Edwards 13 against late call up Sean Round.<\/p>\n

Wrockwardine Wood earned a fab five at Newport and only lost out on the chalks by 11. Captain Rob Jones was “delighted with a very good 5 at Newport. Conditions certainly suited the away teams on Friday and it would have been very easy to call off a game that should have been played. I’m not sure if every team played at home Friday so fair play to Newport. But the lads played well and fully deserved 5, could have been 1 or 2 more.” Stuart Rutter was the best for the visitors winning 8 while Russell Pegram was for the home side 10. St Georges bounced back from last week’s home defeat with a 10-4 victory over Chester Road. Captain Tony Rhodes and Clay Flattley led the way winning 8 with Mark Holland the best for the Whitchurch side 13.<\/p>\n

The other three games were called off due to the inclement weather. A reminder these games must be played with 28 days.<\/p>\n

The bottom four remains the same but Castlefields have moved 18 clear of Sir John Bayley at the top. Three Castlefields players lead the way at the top with Callum Wraight still top.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
