Wem seek home advantage, Telford Derby, Top two at home<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wem USC will seek to use home advantage this week as they aim to move away from the bottom end of the table in Gameweek 19 of the Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier Bowling League. They entertain bottom placed Ifton who are only three points behind. Wem captain Graham Dulson says “a big game for us. A win is the main objective as we need the points. Ifton are showing good form right now in cup games which will help their confidence. It is always a good atmosphere playing these lads so looking forward to the match.” Ifton have picked up recently which gives skipper Dickie Jones confidence. “Our scores have picked up in the last month but we are still bottom. That’s how difficult it is down there. We beat Castlefields and Chester Road at home so it’s difficult to get out of that bottom spot but obviously the next few games will determine where we finish (they face Hanmer and Bylet at home). It’s a dogfight own there and I don’t think anybody can predict who is going to finish bottom.” Bylet are sandwiched between those two teams and will hope to take advantage with a home game against Hanwood. But Hanwood won there 10-4 last year, and will want to back up their 7 winners at Wrockwardine Wood last away game. Bylet suffered a poor defeat in their last home game and will want to put that right this time round.<\/p>\n

Chester Road have moved 16 points clear of bottom spot, albeit with one more game played. But they face an in form Newport side who have won 4 out of their last 6 away, with the other two resulting in 13 winners in total. However Newport do struggle on Chester Road, winning on it only once in their pomp. Captain Paul Fowles comments “we are going to have a hard game against a good team. We need as many points as possible as we have a hard run of games so we need to keep our eye on the ball as\u00a0we don’t get pulled back in the relegation dogfight.” Hanmer face the toughest task out of the bottom five as they travel to Meole Brace. Hanmer have picked up away and Meole have struggled for some form recently, but will want to get back on it so they can catch Newport for 3rd. St Georges aren’t to far off the top 3 still and had a good weekend reaching the KGJ Insurance County Cup Final and captain Tony Rhodes wants to build on that against Wrockwardine Wood. “Local derby where bragging rights are up for grabs. Always lively and hope to build on last Friday and Saturday.” The Wrockites have had an up and down season but got a good 5 away at Newport last game. They have only had 6 and 5 winners in their last two home games to so will want to improve on that against their local rivals.<\/p>\n

The top two are at home with Castlefields facing Bowring and Sir John Bayley taking on Burway. Castlefields are 18 points clear, although the Bayley do have a game in hand, and will want to build on that fine win at Burway last week. Bowring though are chasing a top 6 place and have got some good form recently winning at Bylet and beating Meole 11-3 last week. Burway will want to bounce back from their home mauling against the Fields, but face a team that will want to avenge their whitewash earlier in the season. Burway stand in skipper Wayne Rogers says “we weren’t expecting to get beat so comprehensively but we did, so it places extra importance on this game. Castlefields wanted it more than we did. We have a small squad and it’s a big step up for the people coming in from the reserve teams. But we’re doing ok and hopefully last week was a blip. As long as the Bayley don’t reverse our home result against them then we will be happy!” It will be a different game at their place but hopefully we can get three or four winners to get back on track.”<\/p>\n
