The Premier League Merit, held at Remans Bowling Club, on Sunday 22nd August, was won for the first time by Darren Wellings (Meole Brace) with his brother<\/p>\n
Glyn reaching the semi finals.<\/p>\n
There were 27 entries in total with 23 taking part. Only six clubs were represented today and represents another disappointing commitment from a number of\u00a0League players.<\/p>\n
The final saw Darren Wellings , of Meole Brace, play six time winner Peter Farmer. In an absorbing final where Darren led 8-2 only to see Peter move 14-10 ahead, the match then ebbed and flowed and with Peter leading 19-18 the former champion uncharacteristically though both his woods off and with Darren claiming two, Darren then got the one chalk he wanted to win 21-19 and pick up the first prize of \u00a3160.<\/p>\n
In the semis, Darren beat Martin Gaut (Wrock Wood) 21- 12. The other semi saw Peter beat Darren\u2019s brother Glyn 21-12 (Meole Brace).<\/p>\n
