Top Two meet, Shrewsbury, North Shropshire & Telford Derbies\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The top two in the Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier Bowling League meet in Gameweek 19. Newport lead Sir John Bayley by 9 points at the top of the league and will be eager to \u00a0extend this, given they are at home. Home captain Sam Millward says \u201cit should be a close game.\u201d The Bayley won on there last season, but know Newport are a much tougher nut to crack this season, having not lost since that game. Castlefields will have a close eye on that game, but will be wary of taking on a Meole Brace side that have won three away games this season already. Stand in skipper Graham Rogers comments \u201cWe always look forward to this fixture. We owe them one from our early season loss at their place, take nothing away from meole but we weren’t at the races that night. Meole played exceptionally well though! We know we will need a big home win to keep in touch at the top and with the top two playing each other it might keep them looking over their shoulders. We\u2019ve been on an excellent winnig run the last month which I put down to a really good team spirit and determination and the quality players we have. Going back to the game I think Meole have proved a few people wrong this season after losing so many players. They were tipped to be the whipping boys this year so we’ll have to be at our best and keep focused to get the big win we need then you just never know.\u201d Meole spokesman Scott Moseley says that \u201cthe\u00a0team are looking forward to the game against a quality castlefields side that will be looking for a big score. No doubt the atmosphere will be as loud as ever but we keep surprising everyone this season and although we are missing myself and Andy Wigginton we are hopeful of getting a solid score and enjoying it. Congratulations to both Mike Beer and Callum Wraight too. Hopefully they’ve had a few sleepless nights!\u201d<\/p>\n

There is also a North Shropshire Derby too as Chester Road travel to Wem USC. Both teams come off contrasting results from last week as Wem drew at Burway and Chester Road lost at home to Castlefields. Wem though have struggled at home this season, so the visitors will try and emulate their win at their other North Shropshire rivals Hanmer. Skipper Paul Fowles says the team are \u201clooking\u00a0forward to a good game. We need to pick up points to keep up with the other teams around us.\u201d Hanmer know they are in a desperate situation at the bottom of the league but will be boosted by their Barlow\u2019s Fire & Security Alan Mayhew Trophy win over Chester Road on Wednesday. Hanwood are still on the tails on the top three but know their away form needs to match their home form if they are to break into it.<\/p>\n

Wrockwardine Wood host St Georges in an always fiercely contested derby match. Home captain Stuart Clee is \u201clooking forward to another home game after getting back on track last week.\u201d Dragons captain Ian Gaut says \u201cas\u00a0near to a local derby as we get with the demise of Donnington. They caught us out early in the season with our green being quite sharp and them in good\u00a0early season form on and around the green. But they have dropped off the pace recently while our form has improved so we hope for another steady away performance in an effort to turn around their result on the green.\u201d Bowring host Burway hoping to turn around last year\u2019s win for Burway. Both teams have been up and down this season but know a strong finish could see them finish in the top half. Bylet travel to Ifton with both teams in excellent form at the moment and looking for that top half finish if they can keep it up.<\/p>\n
